SchemaServer Real-Time Edition (RTE) is an Add-on option for SchemaServer. RTE is a back-end read only data mart that can be configured specifically for integration with other external systems where performance and scalability is required. Each data mart can be configured to contain one or more Vocabularies and associated terms along with all properties for these two objects.

The RTE service “looks” at the API level like a slimmed down, turbo-charged version of SchemaServer for semantic content. This is implemented as a read-only de-normalized data index (backed by Lucene) that is kept in synchronization with SchemaServer via a polling synchronization Service using JDBC. This cached instance of SchemaServer data allows developers to leverage a Web Services SOAP API to provide customers a high-performance, scalable solution for applications that want to retrieve SchemaServer data and receive fast read responses. The SOAP API to RTE has a standard set of API calls that are exactly the same as SchemaServer. To support specific custom requirements, a predicate - based API call is available that can be configured to retrieve specific data. Multiple data marts or instances of RTE can be configured and synchronized with SchemaServer.
