How It Works

MetaPoint enables enterprises to manage and apply document tagging vocabularies and SharePoint metadata as part of a controlled process. The figure below provides a high-level view of the MetaPoint product modules and data flow between MetaPoint, Office and SharePoint. MetaPoint Server allows system administrators to model and manage tagging vocabularies and SharePoint metadata structures and to define the tagging vocabularies for specific groups of users across the enterprise. These tagging vocabularies are synchronized across SharePoint sites collections and Office desktops via a web service to ensure that all Office desktops and SharePoint site collections are aligned. The tagging vocabularies and SharePoint metadata are maintained on the desktop in a Microsoft SQL Server Compact Edition database, ensuring that content is consistently tagged even when the user is not connected to the corporate network.
